The inside of the mouth is lined with a delicate mucus. Canker sores or aphthous ulcers are a type of sore that occur in said mucosa, and they differ from cold sores because they are not caused by the herpes virus. Also, its appearance is different.
They can be very painful and cause discomfort when talking and eating. They appear on the inner side of the cheeks, the inner part of the lips, the base of the gums and the lower and upper part of the tongue, but they even form in the upper part of the mouth and the area near the tonsils.
But guess what? They are preventable and easy to manage.
