Are You Ready To Talk About Poo?

Are you one of those people that would rather talk about anything, and I mean anything before they talk about poo? If so, you’re gonna love today’s topic.

That’s right! Pooping!

We all do it! If we don’t, we’d be really sick or even dead in a matter of weeks. So why is it so hard for us to have an honest conversation about this crap (literally)!

So watch the video and let’s talk about it. Seriously! Leave a comment and feel free to share this video with your friends all over the internet. I have the feeling it will be a great conversation piece.

  1. Very informative video. Working in the hospital, I find that constipation is a chronic problem in just about every patient. Many have bowel movements every 2 or 3 days! What is worse, they think that that is normal!

Patient education about nutrition and lifestyle changes is imperative to correct such misunderstandings. This takes time and requires repeated sessions to reinforce the information while the patient is being hospitalized for some “acute” problem. Unfortunately, as nurses our time with the patient has been cut short by the overwhelming amount of documentation that we are required to do.

I have resorted to printing out patient information handouts for the patients on this topic. However, the recommendations that you gave in your video, and which I totally agree with, are not what is contained in the patient education handout on resolving constipation. Metamucil is one of their recommendations.

    1. I know! It’s amazing how people feel like pooing every 3 days is normal. Simple magnesium supplements, taken every evening with dinner can also work wonders. Thanks so much for the work you do in hospitals!

  2. haha, I wondered if you were selling toilet stools…or cleansing! It is important. The food we eat today contributes to poo problems for sure! You are totally right…veggies, veggie juice and water! Rice for diarrhea. There is a lot of controversy about colonics…but I have never talked to anyone who has colonics that aren’t 100% believers! For sure probiotics and enzymes! Great…important and fun blog! Thank you!

  3. The thing I love most about my niece is that she has no fear to talk about poo. This was filled with some great advice. What I’ve found when I need to flush my system and clear the poo is to eat apples for a couple of days. They get everything moving and me feeling much lighter!

  4. YES! SO MUCH AWARENESS is needed. My mom is a colonic hydrotherapist and what she tells people is – if three cars go in a tunnel and only 1 comes out, wouldn’t you worry? LOVE that you’re talking about this. Thank you.

  5. I had my first colonic hydrotherapy session a few months ago and it was very helpful to my body. It was intimidating at first… the thought of all of that water going inside… and felt a little strange at first, but I quickly got used to it and on my second appointment I was much less nervous and more able to relax and enjoy the process of cleansing.

  6. Love this post! Great tips. I eat a ton of fruits and veggies, lots of which are organic. I eat good carbs and fiber too. I drink lots of water – about 80 oz. And I poo 2-3 times a day.

  7. Hey Jovanka – first of all, you are great on camera, well done! Ahhhh Poooo, we love poo in our home. Each time I take my young children to the toilet, we check it out and determine if it is healthy or not. Such a simple exercise that they will remember as they grow and don’t have me in the bathroom with them anymore 🙂 I had a colonic years and years ago and then did the enema lifestyle while in yoga college, but not recently at all. I have to say, I may be in need of one now. I don’t think I poo enough 🙁
